Why We Price Transparently

No sales calls required

You shouldn't need to talk to a salesperson to find out if you can afford a tool.

Predictable costs

MTU-based pricing means you know exactly what you'll pay. No surprise bills.

Self-serve signup

Start testing in minutes, not weeks. No procurement process needed.

Cancel anytime

No annual contracts, no lock-ins. Leave whenever you want.

Fair usage model

Pay for users, not page views. Much fairer for high-traffic sites.

No hidden fees

The price you see is the price you pay. No setup fees, no overages.

"We believe pricing transparency builds trust. If a company hides their pricing, ask yourself why."

Why Competitors Hide Pricing

Most enterprise A/B testing tools hide their pricing behind "Contact Sales" buttons. Here's why — and why we think it's wrong:

Price Discrimination

They charge different customers different prices based on perceived budget.

Lock-in Tactics

Once you're in the sales process, it's harder to walk away.

Upsell Opportunities

Sales calls let them push features you don't need.

Enterprise Justification

Hidden pricing makes tools seem more "serious" or "enterprise-grade."

Competitor Intelligence

They don't want competitors to know their pricing structure.

Commission Structures

Sales teams earn more from negotiated deals than fixed pricing.

Why MTU is Fairer Than Pageviews

Definition:

Monthly Tracked Users (MTU) refers to the number of unique users exposed to at least one experiment within a calendar month, counted once regardless of visit frequency.

MTU Pricing (ExperimentHQ)

  • • Each user counts once per month
  • • Returning visitors don't inflate costs
  • • Predictable monthly bills
  • • Fair for high-engagement sites
  • • Encourages user retention

Pageview Pricing (Competitors)

  • • Every page load counts
  • • Returning visitors multiply costs
  • • Unpredictable bills
  • • Penalizes engaged users
  • • Discourages multi-page testing

Example: A user who visits 50 pages across 10 sessions costs you 1 MTU with ExperimentHQ, but could cost 50+ pageviews with competitors.

Frequently Asked Questions About A/B Testing Pricing

What are Monthly Tracked Users (MTU)?

MTU stands for Monthly Tracked Users. It's the number of unique users who participate in your A/B tests each month. Unlike page views or sessions, MTU only counts each person once per month, regardless of how many times they visit or how many experiments they see.

How does ExperimentHQ count MTU?

We count unique users, not visits. If the same person visits your site 50 times and sees 5 different experiments, they still count as just 1 MTU. We use browser fingerprinting and cookies to identify returning users accurately. Your MTU count resets at the start of each billing cycle.

What happens if I exceed my MTU limit?

We'll notify you when you reach 80% and 100% of your limit. Your experiments won't stop immediately—we give you time to upgrade or wait for the next billing cycle. We never cut off your tests mid-experiment.

Can I cancel my subscription anytime?

Yes. No contracts, no commitments, no cancellation fees. Cancel with one click from your dashboard and you won't be charged again. Your experiments will continue running until the end of your billing period.

Do you offer refunds?

Yes. If you're not satisfied within the first 14 days, we'll refund you completely—no questions asked. We're confident you'll love ExperimentHQ, but we want you to try it risk-free.

Is there a free trial for paid plans?

Yes! All paid plans include a 14-day free trial with full access to all features. No credit card required to start. You can run unlimited experiments during your trial to see real results before committing.

Do you offer discounts for annual billing?

Yes, we offer 2 months free when you pay annually (that's ~17% savings). Contact us at hello@experimenthq.io for annual pricing. We also offer discounts for startups and non-profits.

Do you offer discounts for non-profits or startups?

Yes! We offer special pricing for registered non-profits, educational institutions, and early-stage startups. Email us at hello@experimenthq.io with details about your organization to apply.

How is ExperimentHQ different from Optimizely or VWO?

ExperimentHQ is built for speed and simplicity. Our snippet is under 5KB (vs 100KB+ for competitors), we have no flicker, and setup takes 2 minutes. We offer transparent pricing with no sales calls required—unlike enterprise tools that hide pricing behind demos.

Can I use ExperimentHQ on multiple websites?

Free and Pro plans include 1 domain. The Scale plan includes multi-domain support, allowing you to run experiments across multiple websites under one account. All domains share your MTU quota.

Is there an API available?

Yes, API access is included in the Scale plan. You can programmatically create experiments, fetch results, and integrate with your existing tools and workflows. Documentation is available in your dashboard.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) through Stripe. For annual enterprise plans, we can also accommodate invoicing and bank transfers.
